I've
got such an amazing companion. Elder Stephens is a great missionary,
and he's going to be an awesome fit for this area. He's taught me a lot
already by the example he's set.
This
week, Elder Stephens and I were able to see many miracles, but the
biggest miracle that happened was Lulu. Elder Stephens found her during
the week, and we were able to meet with her. Before our lesson, we were
preparing for it with the Zone Leaders. When we mentioned her name, one
of the zone leaders was really surprised. He said that he had been
trying to contact her for weeks and that she was a referral from someone
in the Ashfield (mandarin-speaking) ward. She had been too busy to meet
before, but Elder Stephens and I were in the right place at the right
time and we were able to meet her. When we met for our first lesson, we
talked about prayer, introduced the Book of Mormon, and talked about
baptism as well. Our fellowship for the lesson, Cassie, bore her
testimony of her experience when she was baptized, and Lulu said
(speaking to Cassie) "it feels like I know you already". The lesson
continued to go well, and in the end, we invited her to be baptized on
the 13th of December. She accepted the invitation, and promised to start
reading the Book of Mormon as well. The Lord is preparing the hearts
and minds of His children everywhere, and this week has taught me that
in a way I'd have never thought it could.
The
above experience has taught me a great deal about being bold as a
teacher. I've noticed my own teaching become more clear and bold as
we've taught these last few days. Confidence in teaching has really come
along this week, and I know that it's because both my understanding of
what I'm teaching has grown, as well as my ability to love the people
around me.
Last
week, we read 2 Nephi 1-5. These last things that Lehi teaches to his
children are so profound and amazing. As a missionary, explaining the
Fall of Adam and Eve isn't always the easiest thing to do on your own,
but I don't know if there's any better explanation than the one found in
2 Nephi 2. Verses 25 and 27 are two of my favorites in explaining the
purpose of the fall and the ability to choose between good and evil.
This week, we'll read 2 Nephi 6-10. Have a great week, and good luck!
Happy
Thanksgiving everyone! Speaking of which, all of the American families
in the ward are having a potluck dinner, and they've invited the
missionaries. It'll be great to have Thanksgiving dinner with them.
Love,
Elder Clark
