I was a bit nervous before my first district meeting as a district leader on Wednesday. I had a prepared a training on "The Power and Authority of Your Calling", but I was still not sure how it would actually go. I kept praying that everything would go well and that I would be able to say something that would help someone. With that prayer in my heart, we begun our district meeting. As we started the "training" portion of the meeting, I got up and began to give the training. During that time, I had a lot of ideas just pop into my head. Those ideas made the meeting so much more spiritual and the training much more meaningful. I realize that that was inspiration from the Holy Ghost. I begun to realize things that I hadn't considered before, and it helped me to gain a better understanding of what I was teaching. The promise of knowing what to say "in the very moment" is true.
We had a trade-off with the zone leaders this week, and we were able to see many miracles as a result. We spent most of the day using the survey from door-to-door. Elder Salesulu showed me a few things that he had done that really made a difference for him, and I know that they will become part of my own survey-skill set. These things allowed us to make stronger connections with people and teach more frequently. It became much easier to testify to people as we used the survey to open up a spiritual conversation and get to know what they felt.
Since I've started my service as a missionary, I've found several scriptures that have helped me overcome challenges and rise to a greater sense of dedication. These have come from every book of the standard works and have helped me to gain a greater understanding of my purpose as a missionary. One of my favorites is Moses 6:31-34. Enoch was a unsure of his ability to be a prophet of God, but the Lord told him that everything was in His hands, and that Enoch would be an instrument of the Lord's purposes. Enoch later goes on to do amazing things as a prophet and eventually leads a city so righteous that they are taken into heaven. That give me hope that someone who is unsure of their ability can still work amazing miracles when they keep the commandments of God.
Last week, we read in Mosiah 11-15. Abinadi is such a bold speaker, and I know that he loved God, even if it meant that he would be thrown into jail, interrogated, and eventually killed (spoilers) for what he knew. I hope each of us can have that kind of commitment to our Heavenly Father. We had a trade-off with the zone leaders this week, and we were able to see many miracles as a result.
