My first full week in Eastwood has been a very eventful. Really getting into the work in this area has been great. We had two people come to church yesterday and had a lesson with one of them afterwards. It was mostly in Korean and we taught about the restoration. The Korean program has been focussed on learning how to teach the restoration effectively for the last little while and this lesson flowed super well. One of the blessings I saw in that lesson was the blessing of having a companion who also spoke Korean. The lesson was able to flow a lot better than the lessons or finding situations where I've been the only Korean speaker. Also, the spirit was present in the lesson and we were able to teach effectively, even though we were in a pretty busy place. At one point, our investigator just turned to me and said "Your Korean is really good!" That lesson was a real-life interaction with the Gift of Tongues. The Holy Ghost brought to my memory the studies, role-plays, and past experiences that improved my Korean up to this point. It was an awesome lesson.
There's a part-member family that we started working with this week. Elder Rencher knew them when he previously served in Greenwich (He served in this ward at the beginning of his mission and was transferred back). As we were preparing to meet with them, our goal was to invite the father of the family to take the missionary lessons. After dinner, the mother asked the father to tell the us the news. The news was that he had decided to take the missionary lessons. Of course that came as a surprise to us, but it allowed us to share our vision for their family and make plans to meet with them soon. I don't know the family super well, certainly not like Elder Rencher does, but I've got this feeling that we are about to see a miracle in the life of this family.
We have David A Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve visiting next week. I'm looking forward to it.
Love,
Elder Clark
