Last
week, a restaurant at the University ordered way too much bread and
wasn't able to use it all. As a result, they ended up giving away most
of it. Since one of the elder's knew someone who worked there, we ended
up with a lot of bread. We ended up with 21 loaves of bread in our
apartment, which we're still trying to give away/use.
This week, we had a meeting with one of our recent converts. He's been having some struggles accepting the Book of Mormon lately, so we talked to him about how he could gain a testimony for himself. I could feel the spirit so strongly as Elder Wong and I bore our testimonies of the truthfulness and importance of the Book of Mormon, and I know he could feel it too. He told us that he hadn't ever prayed specifically to know if the Book was true, but committed to do it this week. Knowing him, he'll pray to know if it's really true, and I know that he'll receive a witness of its truth for himself.
Speaking of the Book of Mormon, this week, we've started focusing on inviting our investigators to read it, ponder it, and pray to know of it's truth for themselves. Using it to explain things in our lessons and inviting those we teach to grow in a way that only diligent study of the scriptures can, we've been able to give the people we teach a greater testimony of what the book's message is: To convince all people that Jesus is the Christ, Joseph Smith was his prophet, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's kingdom established here on earth. My own testimony of the Book has grown as I've studied it this week in preparation for the lessons we've taught.
In working with the Ward Mission Leader, we've been better able to work with the ward in fellowshipping the recent converts and others that we've been able to invite to church. This week, Elder Wong and I have set some really high goals compared to what we've set in the past. I know that with the Ward Mission Leader's help, the people we bring to Sacrament meeting will be so much more able to see the love that the ward members have for each other and them. The ward is such a friendly group, and they've been so readily accepting of new converts and the investigators I've seen come to church.
I feel that this week is going to be different than the others. We've set some high goals, and we're going to have to do things a little differently in order to reach them, but I know that the Lord will grant us according to our righteous desires and faithfulness in keeping his commandments.
Love,
Elder Clark
