Week 36 - Heat in Hebersham

It's been a very hot week, but we've been greatly blessed. The ward is starting to help us out and the area is growing. Last week, I talked about what I had learned about the value of working with members. This has been a theme that has carried through the week.

We were working with the Elder's Quorum President doing "Rescue" visits. One of the less-active members that we visited, Brother Spolaric, was happy to see us and invited us back later to give him a copy of the Book of Mormon. When we did, he told us that he would be coming to church on Sunday as well as to the fireside held Sunday evening. With the help of the Elder's Quorum President, he was able to make it to each of these activities. He told us about how much he enjoyed them and was happy to be back at church. He's made great friends with the Elder's Quorum President, and with other members of the ward as well. God had certainly prepared him to meet with us, and He had brought us to Brother Spolaric's home at the right time.

We were talking to another less-active member last week who had served a mission and was starting to return to church. As we talked about the experiences that he had on while he served, the spirit was very strong. It was great to hear him bear his testimony of missionary work, the church, and the truthfulness of the gospel.
Last week, we read the first 5 chapters of Mosiah, which contain the words of King Benjamin. He teaches the people so much. Something he said that I really liked was:
"And behold, tell you these things that ye may learn wisdomthat ye may learn that when ye arein the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
So get out and serve the people around you!
This week, we'll read Mosiah 6-10, Good luck!
