Week 50- The Still, Small, Urgent Voice

Last night consisted of the normal district leader duty of receiving reports from each of the companionships in the district. One elder told me that the sister missionaries in his ward seemed a bit stressed today, but since I had just talked with them a few minutes ago, I figured everything was okay. After finishing up that phone call, I got the feeling that I needed to call the sisters again, and the feeling was urgent. After a couple of unanswered calls from both of us, we were able to get in contact. They asked why I had called, and I could only answer that I felt like I needed to. They actually were about to call me because of some things that had just happened a few minutes before with their investigator who is getting baptized on Saturday. All I could really do was to refer them to President Howes, but I'm glad that I was able to recognize, understand, and act on the prompting I received.

There's a part-member family that the elders in this area have been working with for a long time. Their son is investigating the church, but it's tough for him to have lessons because of his personal circumstances. When he wasn't able to participate in our lesson, the parents felt sad because they really want to help him. We shared a lesson with them from Preach My Gospel Ch. 9 where it talks about "No Effort Is Wasted". It was what they needed to hear, and I'm sure that they know that what they are doing for their family will eventually bring a lot of good into their lives. Preach My Gospel is such an inspired tool for missionaries. Not only is it a good study resource, it is also a tool to encourage others in their own work.

Speaking of "No Effort Is Wasted", I received news that an investigator who I had met back in UNSW in October has joined the church. I'm thankful that I was able to be there to plant the seeds in his life that are now being harvested.

Elder Clemente is very meek. He's always trying to improve and to change. Whether asking about English or missionary work, he keeps working on his abilities and testimony. I'm trying to emulate that because I know that we can never stop improving if we're looking for a way to do it.

Last week, we read in Alma 41-45. I hope you learned something new from this week, because I certainly did.

This week, we will read Alma 46-50. In these chapters, we'll read about the rise of a man named Amalickiah, whose ambitions start a war that will continue for most of the rest of the book of Alma. We'll also read about one of the great heroes of the Book of Mormon, a man named Captain Moroni, whose faith and desire to preserve his country save the people from destruction.

Have an amazing week, and Happy Mother's Day! Love you Mom!

Love,
Elder Clark
