Week 71 - There's a WHAT today?

This week has been great! We've had lots of training meetings and I've learned so much. I'm looking forward to putting it all to use this week. We also went to the temple today which is always good.

We were out "train-surfing" yesterday looking for people to teach, and Elder Jordan and I found that people are accepting invitations to come to general conference. We'll just start talking about how there is a prophet today and he's speaking to the world this week. That usually catches people by surprise, and it opens up a great way for us to talk about conference and what it means to us. I think this'll be a great week to talk to people about a living prophet, inviting them to come, see, and hear his voice. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet today and his words are God's words.

My understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed over the course of my mission, and it would be unreal to think that my behavior and perspective on life hasn't changed as a result. I've learned more about the liberating power of the Atonement and hope that comes from Jesus Christ. From that, I have learned so much about patience, humility, faith, and obedience. And really, I think that's what learning more about Jesus Christ does to you. I realize now that the gospel can be something that is lived in every aspect of life, whether it has anything directly to do with "church things" or not.

As promised, this week, we're going to be starting something new. You might remember last general conference in April when Elder Ballard talked about members of the church reading Preach My Gospel. Well, now, it's my turn to "follow up". We are going to start reading Preach My Gospel, one chapter at a time. So, to start, we're going to read chapter 1 of Preach My Gospel: What is My Purpose as a Missionary? As we start, look at what the purpose of missionary work is. Also, as we start reading, realize that Preach My Gospel can be applied to any member of the church.

Here we go!
Love
Elder Clark
