Week 74- Miraculous Ocean

It's been another good week in Summer Hill Ward. We've been able to meet a lot of really good people. We got a referral for a man who lives in Strathfield. He found a set of scriptures on a bus or a train a while ago and wants to have it returned to the proper owner. So we went by to see him. He was out in front of the house and was really happy to see us. He had read through a few parts of this "Mormon Bible" (what members of the church would call a quad combination) and he really liked it. We talked a bit about what the Book of Mormon was and why it was in the scriptures he found and set up an appointment to give him his own copy of the Book of Mormon. It was great to see that not only are there people who are decent enough to return a book they found on a bus, but also that they can feel, if not recognize, the power that comes from the book they found.

We were out finding this week and I met a Korean man. We started talking, and between my broken Korean and his broken English, we were able to have a discussion about Jesus Christ and the effect that he has had on each of our lives. We also talked about the Plan of Salvation. It was surprising how well I was able to follow his Korean. I won't lie and say that I understood him perfectly, but I was able to piece together enough to talk to him about the Gospel that the Lord said would be heard in every tongue.

When I think about the happiest moment of my mission so far, I'm not really sure which one moment has been the happiest, most fulfilling experience I've had. I think that most of the great experiences I've had have been less individual experiences and more of a gradual process building to a high point. Hearing about people getting baptized after I've left an area, actually experiencing people getting baptized, following a prompting to do something for my district as a district leader, or any of the other miracles that I've gotten to play a part in have all been the accumulation of the smaller miracles leading up to it. I think that's how a lot of miracles have happened in my life so far. A lot of small drops have made a miraculous ocean. And when I look back, I'm happy that the Lord has the love and mercy to let me see his hand in so many ways.

I think that might be it: The happiest moment of my mission is whatever moment I'm in right now. I don't always remember that, but when I think about it, all of the happy times I've experienced have contributed to the happiness I feel now. I think any of us can be happy when we follow Moroni's instruction in Moroni 10:3 to ponder how merciful the Lord has been to you up until the present time. I know that this doesn't just apply to missions. It can apply to you too.

Last week, we read PMG chapter 3. These are the doctrines that we all should study, believe, love, live, and teach.

Next week, we're going to study chapter 4, which is about recognizing the spirit. This one has helped me recognize the miracles in my life so much more than before.

Love,
Elder Clark
